KRYMOV LAB NYC

In the fall of 2022, Pat fell in with Krymov Lab NYC, a new theatrical troupe under the leadership of celebrated Russian director Dmitry Krymov (newly exiled from his native Moscow due to his vocal anti-war stance). This experience represented a full-circle moment for Pat, who had first been exposed to Dmitry Krymov’s prolific body of work during his visits to Moscow in 2014 and 2016, and had found himself an observer and occasional actor for Dmitry Krymov during the director’s educational work in NYC thereafter. Pat served as Stage Manager, Co-Sound Designer, and an Associate Producer for the Lab’s inaugural showcase in December 2022, a workshop production of two plays at La MaMa @ Downtown Art in Manhattan. Krymov Lab NYC looks forward to debuting full productions of these two plays at La MaMa in fall 2023!

EUGENE ONEGIN (IN OUR OWN WORDS) Four oddball Russian refugees arrive in America to present the intertwined stories of the great poet Alexander Pushkin and his magnum opus, Eugene Onegin. A reimagined verson of Krymov’s lauded Moscow production, Onegin asks us what it means to be Russian–and what Russian culture can tell us about–this historical moment.

AMERICANS: 2 HEMS & 1/8 O’NEILL An experimental mashup of two Hemingway short stories and two scenes from Eugene O’Neill’s Desire Under The ElmsAmericans is an interrogation of American-ness, begun 100 years ago by two of America’s most iconic writers and continued today by a Russian director with American actors. Brand new and developed in America in 2022, Americans is the beginning of a new conversation with the culture and literature of Krymov’s new home.
